A piece of art is a bold, image-driven magazine that blends the visual richness of an art book with the storytelling of an editorial publication. Each issue is structured around chapters defined by color, where each hue shapes the tone, content, and visual identity. Through photography, reportage, interviews, and artistic interpretations, the magazine explores how color influences perception, culture, and creative expression.

At the core of the magazine is a unique cover concept: each issue features a detachable artwork mounted on the front. This removable piece transforms the magazine into a personal art object, letting the reader take home an actual “piece of art.” Behind the artwork, the creator is revealed, spotlighting a featured artist and their contribution.

By merging conceptual design with narrative depth, a piece of art offers a curated, tactile, and immersive experience, a magazine that doesn’t just document art, but becomes a piece of art itself.

This magazine was created as part of a school assignment at Berghs School of Communication. The task was to design an 80-page magazine with a focus on layout and typography. We had full creative freedom regarding theme and content, with the primary goal being to explore visual storytelling through graphic design. Since this is a student project, all images and texts were sourced freely from the internet and used for educational purposes only.
